Doing Big Things for Little Equines

ETMHD is a small rescue made up of volunteers who want to make a big difference in the lives of small equines. Our mission is three fold:

  • To be a safety net for miniature horses, donkeys and mules that are at risk of being homeless or going to auction.

  • To educate potential adopters and mini owners of the care and needs of these little equines.

  • To educate the public about the plight of the unwanted horse.

Rehabilitate and Rehome

All intakes are given the veterinary care required to get them healthy and on their way to their new lives. Required training will be assessed before adoption to help ensure we find the right home for each little one.

Equines with mental or physical needs that prevent adoption immediately will go into our sanctuary program until ready. All of this is made possible by donations only. We do not get any state funding.

Owner Surrender

We will take in any mini without judgement as long as we have the room to do so. We are a minaiture rescue only. We are not set up to take in full size horses or standard donkeys.

Please contact us and we can explain the process and how our program works. Your equine will become part of ETMHD rescue and be under the rescues care until he is ready for his new home.

When he is ready to be adopted out he will be under the same contract as our other rescues.

Education and Support

One of our Mission goals is to educate people about miniature horses, donkeys and mules. We want them to understand how to care for them, what they need from us and what they can do for us.

We want all minis to have as great of life as possible and the people that own them to really enjoy them as well.

We are also available to help our adopters and foster homes with any questions they may have about training or health issues and concerns.

Due to the increasing number of covid cases in Tennessee, we won't be having any onsite visits unless it's for an approved applicant. We want to limit the exposure for our volunteers and families.
Since we are unable to have our monthly open houses, which are designed for those wanting to learn more about minis, please feel free to message us or email us ( with questions if you're not quite ready to adopt. We will gladly answer your questions and help you decide if minis are for you. Thank you for your understanding.
